And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. -Mark 5:18-20
In the book of Mark chapter 5:1-20 we learn about a demoniac a man who was heavily demonically possessed by a legion of spirits. When Jesus Christ came into the region of the Gadarenes he man came up to Jesus Christ and bowed down at his feet to pay him homage. The issue though were the demons that dwelt in the man they cried out through the Gentile man and said “what have you to do with us?, have you come to cast us out before our time?”. Jesus Christ did not even respond to them but he spoke to them and commanded the unclean spirits to leave the man and they obeyed as he used his authority over them. They cried out again and begged Jesus not to cast them out of the region but to cast them into swine that were nearby. Jesus did so and the swine went stampeding into the water that was nearby and drowned and died. All in the city who saw it were amazed and marveled at what occurred.
The end result was the demon possessed man was set free from the legion of demons. The man they once knew who was cutting himself, naked amongst the tombs was clothed and in his right mind. They were amazed at the work of Jesus Christ and what he has done. Then there were critics who disliked what they saw and wanted him out of the city and they sent him away. Jesus I am sure shook the dust off his feet concerning that place and received back his peace from those who did not receive him. The not set free man who was prior demon possessed asked to go with Jesus and be one of his disciples when Jesus left off and went into his ship. Jesus said no to him and told him to stay behind in the city he was in and tell his friends, family and those in the town what he has done for him. The once demon possessed man was now told by Jesus to go and evangelize in his region amongst his kinfolk and those in the town.
It is not recorded in the Bible how many souls he won into the Kingdom, How many he led to Christ, or what he has done after Jesus worked a miracle, sign and wonder in his life. But as we read and see in the Bible and catch the revelation the man became an evangelist in his city to tell others about Jesus Christ. So that others can be redeemed and saved, and brought in to the Kingdom of God. Not all of us were in such a severe case as the once demoniac turned into evangelist in the word of God. But we were once demon possessed and had a radical encounter with Jesus Christ. Now it is our job as he told the once demoniac to tell others about himself and what he is able to do, who he is and what he can do in one’s life. When we are saved we are called to win other souls into the Kingdom and lead them to Jesus Christ. Not to be silent about our walk in Christ but to be a trumpet and sound the alarm letting others know about our King of Glory.
Saint wherever you are in the world you are called to overtake that territory in the name of Jesus Christ. Interceding for that region, telling people about Jesus Christ, going out to evangelize and tell others about Jesus Christ. How you might ask? Getting gospel tracts, or free bibles or investing your money to buy some to hand out. Devoting some hours out of your day to go stand somewhere that the Holy Spirit will lead you to spark conversation with people to tell them about Jesus and ask if anyone needs prayers. Using your money to buy Christian devotional things to hand out and being creative making little bags to hand out, in the process speaking life to others and praying for and with them. Inviting people to church all by the leading of the Holy Spirit and with the Wisdom of God. This is what it truly means to be a living sacrifice aside from living a holy life, this is part of taking up your cross and walking.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.-Matthew 5:16.
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. -1 Corinthians 3:6-8
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. -Matthew 5:13
