The heart is deceitful above all things and it is extremely sick; who can understand it fully and know its secret motives?. I the Lord, search and examine the mind, I test the heart, to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds. -Jeremiah 17:9-10

It is important for us not to lean under our own understanding, (our mind/heart) but to acknowledge God in all our ways and he will direct our paths. Once we begin to lean on our own mind/heart we will be turned to our own will which opposes the will of God for our lives. We see in Jeremiah 17:9 that our hearts are deceitful above all things and it is extremely sick which is why God always admonishes us not to lean unto our own understanding and also to walk by Faith and not by sight. He even tells us to purify our hearts and to cleanse our hands in James 4:8 which says “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.“. This is a call to allow the Lord to strengthen your Faith so that you do not walk the ways of your heart which is deceitful. As we see in verse 10 the Lord searches and examines the mind he tests the heart to show you what is in it so that you can truly repent.

Not only is our own hearts deceitful and extremely sick but those all around us. This is why we the Lord calls us unto himself so that we can depend on him. He does not want us to be ensnared by the deceit and trickery of mankind. So he calls us to him so that he can refine, deliver, restore, and change us so that we will not fall prey to the wiles of the devil. God never intended for us not to interact with others and have friendships or relationships but when you put all your trust and everything you have into it you are in a dangerous place called idolatry and sin. This keeps you away from God and you are now gratifying your feelings and emotions and living out your own will trying to fill voids that only Jesus can fill, this is all in and through the Holy Spirit of God. The only one who can truly satisfy and fill every void in you and shine light into every dark space in you that you are trying to fill with things inside of you. So when you are putting your trust and all you have in mankind you are putting yourself at an disadvantage to be abused, tricked, lied to, misused ETC. When God does not want this for you he wishes above all things that you prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers and be in good health. This cannot occur when you are at the will of another instead of Gods will for your life.

Look at what Jeremiah 17:5 lets us know “Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord“. It says CURSED is the the one who trusts in other people and make them their strength and when your heart departs from the Lord. Verse 6 lets us know “ For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.”. You will be stressed out, depressed, sick, directionless, at the mercy of another human being, away from God in sorrow living a life of WOES in idolatry. Look at the good news in verse 7 & 8 “ Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.“. Blessed you are when you put all your trust in the Lord living in the land of plenty, lacking no good thing, having a fruitful and fulfilled spiritual and physical life making impact and a difference. Not only that but in right standing with our Heavenly Father pleasing unto him in which he can and will open up the windows of Heaven and pour you out Blessings that you wont have room enough to contain.

The moral of all this that the Lord has me conveying to you Beloved is not to put your trust in your own heart nor in the hands of a human being. Both of these will fail you and it will also lead you astray and far away from God and put you in a place of curses. You have to trust in and love the Lord with all your mind, body and spirit, no matter what it looks, feels or seems like. Seek the Lord, pursue him, fight the good fight of Faith do not relent do not forsake the Lord God Almighty. Press into Jesus Christ, continuously seek the Holy Spirit for everything, seeking to do right and to shun the wrong as God’s strength is made perfect in your weaknesses, his Grace is sufficient for you according to 2 Corinthian 12:9. The plan of satan is to deceive you through your own heart and through others to make you believe in a lie to divert you off the pathway that God has paved for you from the foundation of the world. Your steps are pre ordained by God so why are you shifting off the pathway that he has ordained for you to walk in?. That means that nothing can stop you or block you on the pathway he has paved for you to walk in the only thing that can stop or block you is you yourself. Through doubt, disobedience, rebellion, stubbornness, all these things I just mentioned you can be delivered from and Jesus Christ is able to get down to the root of these heart issues. There is a root to everything and things do not just happen overnight there is a root cause that has to be uprooted, consumed at the root by the fire of God and dealt with in the name of Jesus.

Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. -Matthew 15:13
