Repentance and Loving Others: The Key Commandments Explained

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.  For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward: He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment. Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. -Deuteronomy 10:16-19

Here it is. The Lord has given Moses a new set of tablets with the commandments for the children of Israel. He admonishes them to repent. Repent from their pride, idolatry and the hardness of heart that they have towards the Lord of Host. They became hard hearted and stiff neck. They endured a lot, which seemed to be like a lack of patience. Moses inquired of the Lord about the children of Israel. He asked Him not to let His wrath fall upon them. God turned away his wrath from them and commanded them to walk after all he will command them. He calls us his church to repentance from our hard heartedness and our pride. This has led several of us into destruction. If you have not reached the point of destruction yet, you are on the verge. The Lord is sending his word to deliver you out of your destruction. He is sending his word to heal you of your infirmities and afflictions. This has come upon you due to your discontentment, murmuring, and idolatries.

I would like to let you know, beloved. As long as you are in idolatry, you will be hard-hearted and stiff-necked. You will not manage to love your neighbor as yourself. Loving your neighbor as yourself is the greatest commandment under the new covenant. Jesus fulfilled the law then. Hence, the Lord has given us the three greatest commandments. These are to love Him (God), love our neighbor, and love ourselves. When idolatry, hard-heartedness, and pride exist, love is nonexistent. Before Moses received the new tablets of the commandments, The Lord instructed the children of Israel. These were the things they must do as they go to acquire their new land/territory. There are several things they must do. They should not bow down to the gods of the people of the lands they will be going into. They must not serve them, etc. I decree and declare in the name of Jesus Christ. You are getting ready and prepared to go into the land that God has promised you.

I hope you know that God will not set you up to fail, only the adversary the devil will. So God takes his time to teach you his will, his principles, and to change and build your character. When you get into this land to acquire it, you will not mess things up. You will not get yourself hurt. You will not die or suffer lack, famine, affliction, and disease as you go to wherever he is taking you. The Lord lets us know in 3 John 2. It says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.“. Id like to add in to embrace this time of chastening, building of your character, the waiting period. As we see in the text God is not a respecter of person and he serves justice for all. He admonishes us to show Love to the strangers (sinners those still in Egypt). We should not provoke them, especially in these dark troubling times we are living in. He reminds us that we were once strangers in Egypt. Do you remember when people used to provoke you? Did it offend and enrage you to the point you wanted to hurt someone? or even messed up your mood and day? making you question yourself.

People are confused and troubled in these dark troubling times the last days. They are troubled in their mind, spirit, and bodies. They are just going day by day not knowing what is next but trying their best to enjoy “life”. Seeing all this chaos and destruction around them in the news ETC. You are spiritual and a child of God. You know the truth and better. You are supposed to be the one to shine your light into their darkness. In whatever way the Holy Spirit will lead you to do this, it be smiling. It be sparking a conversation. It be asking how you are doing or saying hello. Most importantly, let them know about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Let them know that they too can have what we have. It is a joy unspeakable and an unconditional Love. It is a peace that the world can’t give nor can it take it away from us. The way we treat people is something that God watches and knows. He sees everything. Only He can admonish us to love the stranger. We can brighten someone’s day by a greeting or a gesture like smiling.

Adding fuel to the fire of an unbeliever is not a pleasing thing to God. It displeases our Lord. You will be the one left at a disadvantage in sin. This is why it is important to remember scripture. Meditate on it and practice every day to be a doer of it. Do not just be a hearer deceiving yourself. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that ” For we wrestle not against flesh and blood. We wrestle against principalities. We wrestle against powers. We wrestle against the rulers of the darkness of this world. We wrestle against spiritual wickedness in high places.“. Unbelievers can be a handful. They act the way they do due to demonic spirits driving them. This is when it is important to remember who we are in Christ. Remember that “Greater is he who is within us than he who is in this world“. Also, no weapon fashioned and formed against us shall prosper. Every tongue that rises up against us, we condemn in Jesus’ name. The Lord never told us to befriend the strangers. He never told us to be unequally yoked with them. This is because bad company corrupts our good character.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? -2 Corinthians 6:14

Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. -1 Corinthians 15:33

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. -Matthew 19:26

It is only possible with God and his Holy Spirit to walk in love and humility. We can’t do it on our own. It is the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. As we surrender to Jesus and follow him daily dying daily to our flesh and our desires and fallen nature. No matter where we are in Christ, God will not allow us to befriend strangers. If he does, it is because he has Graced us to do such a thing for a season. He trusts you and has graced you for the assignment. Other than that the Lord will not set you up to fall short of his Glory. He will not set you up to be tempted. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. -James 4:4. The strangers carry certain spirits. They can seduce you, deceive you, bewitch you, tempt you, contaminate you. This happens through agreement and disobedience. We are not stronger than Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit. Without them, we will be powerless. We will be right where we were before salvation. So when he tells you not to get involved in a thing, leave it alone and follow the Holy Spirit. Your own disobedience can set you up for the biggest fall of your life. Pride can bring so much shame and reproach.

Beloved, whatever land or territory the Lord God Almighty is about to give to you to possess requires humility. It also requires love and obedience. You must abide in his precepts. Additionally, be devoted to him. There will be several temptations, deceptions and you must know your God and his voice. Never forget that the devil comes appearing as an angel of light to deceive. He is the serpent from the garden. Snakes watch you from afar. You would never know they are there until they attack. If you do see a snake, it will pretend that it wont move sometimes even be friendly. Then it will come with lightning speed, and you won’t know what happened until you’ve been injected with poison or it is coiled around you suffocating you. Whoever you are, trust God. As he tugs on your heart, answer him and seek his face. Draw closer to Jesus Christ and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Even when it makes no sense he knows what he’s doing, you don’t. Ask the Lord to deliver you from whatever does not allow you to walk in true humility and love. You have to be kind and gentle to the strangers (sinners, those in who are still in Egypt). Sometimes it’s just you being quiet, leaving a space their in due to their hostility. Do not react when they try to provoke you. Stay quiet and keep walking. Allow God to vindicate and avenge you. We cannot change anyone. Only Jesus Christ can. So, if someone is hostile and combative, we can’t force anything on anyone. It’s key to always respect boundaries.

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you: do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets”. -Matthew 7:12
