And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.

And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. -Mark 6:1-5

When you are chosen of God for his use and purposes, those who once knew you in your sinful nature will find it difficult to see you as the new creature in Christ. We see here that Jesus Christ went into his own country to teach and many were offended at him. Jesus lived a sinless life a Holy and righteous life, but Due to them being familiar with him, they were like “Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary ETC?”. Basically saying how dare he who comes from the same place we are from try to teach and rebuke us. Where did he get this wisdom?, they had a hard time discerning the voice of God and receiving it through Jesus due to their familiarity with him. Due to this reason he couldn’t do any mighty work there only on a few then he proceeded unto the next mission.

How many of you have God Chosen and you are reviled due to familiarity?, It is a part of the process. This is all to build you up and prepare you for the calling on your life. Not only to prepare you but also so that you do not remain comfortable in places and spaces where the Lord does not want you to remain. The very things you are facing are temporary, until you learn to endure in the process and not give in, or up you will not overcome the process. You will delay and set yourself back, It is important to embrace the process because you are being prepared for what God has for you. Imagine if the Lord just threw you out there without healing you, without humbling you, without delivering you from things you are not able to see. That is a catastrophe waiting to happen, The Lord Loves you enough to put you through the process to prepare you.

I am sure that you have heard the saying “Nothing good and worth having comes easy” though this is not scriptural it is true. The things that God has shown you, revealed through his word, and prophesied over your life will not come easy. If it does you should question it all, The devil hands you things easily only to rob, kill and destroy you. It is a horrible thing to go anywhere in life with a spirit of pride, arrogance, a hardened heart, offense, unforgiveness, bitterness. That is like putting a untrained wild animal around innocent people they will devour everything in sight that seems to be a threat. What does that do?, it brings nothing but chaos beloved, endure the process, be grateful that God is working in your and Jesus there with you every step of the way.

But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. You may be wondering about this part right?, Guess what though you may be without honor in your own country, city, region and amongst your own kin and house. You are learning, being prepared, being molded, being restored, being made whole, being delivered, being taught, for where the Lord is taking you. He doesn’t want you to go where he has prepared for you with the old mindsets, ways of being, character, so he is doing a work in you. Humble yourself and embrace this process in doing so you will not be trying to figure out things that is only in the hands of God to know and manifest in due time and season. Draw closer to God in these times, soak yourself in the word of God, Praise and worship, prayer, learning about what God has deposited in your life. Learn how to walk in his love and the fruits of the Holy Spirit which are “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” -Galatians 5:22-23.

Verse 6 of this chapter says “And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.” -Mark 6:6. Marvelled means to be shocked, suprised, amazed, this is how Jesus felt due to their unbelief at their offense. I am sure many reading this may feel the same like wow I cant believe they are acting such a way and they cannot accept you Lord working through me. Guess what beloved our own Lord and Savior went through it all for us, as you get an understanding and revelation of this you will be free of trying to be received by those who are familiar to you. Ask the Lord to deliver you from people trying to be accepted, received and liked by everyone, by doing so you become a people pleaser and not pleasing unto God. This means that you become a respecter of person which God calls us not to be respecter of persons so that he can move through us in a great compacity.

I am sure many have heard this “Familiarity breeds contempt”, Contempt means strong dislike, and lack of respect for someone or something. This is what happens when people are familiar with you it breeds contempt. Don’t try to be like’d by such individuals but keep on going in Christ. Stay close to Jesus and remain in prayer, the word, thanks giving and praise, It is in him that you will find direction that you are looking for. You must walk by Faith and not by sight if you truly want to succeed and carry out what it is God has called you to do in this life. It may hurt and be uncomfortable but ask the Holy Spirit to help you through this to overcome such emotions. In the end when you are where the Lord has prepared for you, it will be all worth the test and trials to strengthen you and mature you for your call and purpose.
